How to Scan with Bellus3D FaceApp
Bellus3D FaceApp is an iOS app that can easily and quickly
capture a 3D face scan and then allow you to download a 3D file (either STL, OBJ or PLY format).
What You Will Need
To scan using Bellus3D FaceApp, you will need an iPhone with a
TrueDepth camera, such as the iPhone X or iPhone 11.
What It Costs
Scanning with an iOS device and Bellus3D FaceApp is free. To export your 3D scans and download
them in one of the supported 3D file formats such as OBJ, STL, or PLY, you must unlock the scan
with an in-app purchase of $1 USD per scan.

Stand or sit in a stationary place so that you will be able to turn your head 90° to the
left and right when you are ready to scan

Launch the FaceApp application and select the desired scan option at the bottom of the
screen (FACE, FACE + NECK or FULL HEAD)

Position the phone directly in front of your face at a distance that causes the red oval
to turn green. Once the oval turns green you can push the white button at the bottom of the
phone display in order to initiate the scan.

The application will prompt you to turn 90° to the left, then back to the middle, 90° to the
right and then back to the middle. If you selected FACE + NECK or FULL HEAD you will also be
prompted to tilt your head up and down as well.

Once the capture is complete, FaceApp will stitch together the various perspectives to form
the 3D model. You will have the option of saving the scan and/or exporting it in one of the
supported 3D file formats (OBJ, GLB or STL). Each time you export a 3D image you will need
to make an in-app purchase of $1 USD.
